Audio up from the ‘Jam It’ school holiday band program

May 12, 2015

Sunday 15th February 2015

Each January & October school holidays, young musicians from across Canberra meet up, form bands and jam together as part of Music For Canberra’s week-long ‘Jam It’ holiday rock band program. Over the course of the week, participants learn about song-writing (this year featured a workshop with Julia Johnson from ‘Julia & the Deep Sea Sirens‘), stage-craft, sound management and live music performance tuition.

This culminated in a performance at the National Multicultural Festival, and this year’s bands – Spotto, Neon Thieves & Breaking The Silence – proved once again how much talent is brewing in Canberra’s young music scene! Their performance on Sunday 15th February at the Route 66 ‘American Experience’ stage had the audience up and clapping along. Check out some of their tracks below and on our music pageand find images from the day up on the Facebook page.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and thanks also to our hard-working tutors who run this program each year. We look forward to seeing you at the next Jam It!
