James McCusker Orchestra at the National Arboretum
In 2018, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our training orchestra, now known as the James McCusker Orchestra or JMO.
The training orchestra was established in 1968, one of three Canberra Junior Orchestra Society ensembles – the Junior Training Orchestra, the Canberra Youth Orchestra and the Junior Wind Group. It was named for its founder, James McCusker, in 1978 and today consists of 38 players led by string player and conductor, Shilong Ye.
JMO is playing its first concert of 2018 at the National Arboretum performing Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite, Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte and Dvořák’s Symphony No.8 in G major.
Date: Saturday 7 April 2018
