Junior Brass Ensemble
A performance ensemble for young players 8+ years old
Thursdays 4:45 - 5:45pm with Zach
Joining an ensemble is a fantastic way for those who are already taking private lessons to meet like-minded players and hone their skills in a fun and friendly group environment. Our experienced conductors who lead ensembles will encourage you to expand and enrich your musical repertoire.
The Junior Brass Ensemble, conducted by music teacher and professional musician Zach Raffan, is open to young players who have begun taking private lessons, either here at Music For Canberra, through school, or other private teachers. The Youth Brass Ensemble play a predominantly classical repertoire, with jazz and contemporary pieces mixed in for fun and variety.
Music For Canberra believes strongly in the importance of performance in improving the self-confidence and musical ability of students of all ages, and Junior Brass Ensemble participants who would like to are certainly encouraged to participate in concerts and other community events (but are under no pressure if they don’t wish to). The Junior Brass Ensemble performs at Music For Canberra concerts, sometimes performing along with our Youth Brass Ensemble to achieve a more robust sound, and may also take part in other performances & special projects and workshops in the wider community, such as Floriade and the Multicultural Festival, as well as other community events.
Youth Brass Ensemble groups:
Junior Brass Ensemble: Thursdays 4:45 – 5:45pm
Youth Brass Ensemble: Mondays 6:30 – 7:30pm
