Canberra Children's Choir & Youth Choir win at the National Eisteddfod!
Friday 21st August 2015
A huge congratulations to the Canberra Children’s Choir & Youth Choirs, conducted by Greta Claringbould, who were awarded a silver & gold medal respectively, in the ‘Choir 12 Years & Under; and ‘Choirs 18 Years & Under’ sections of the 2015 Australian National Choirs Eisteddfod on Friday 21st August, at Llewellyn Hall.
Our Choirs Conductor, Greta Claringbould, said:
“The Canberra Children’s Choir was placed with a silver medal. For a small choir we made a tremendous impact and filled Llewellyn Hall with double the sound of choirs numbering 60 plus. Our dynamic variation, color, diction and tone quality were all most excellent. Well done for your very fine performance, demonstrating that a bigger choir is not always better.
The Canberra Youth Choir was placed with a gold medal – congratulations and very well done! The Youth Choir performed sensitively in the ‘Chilcott’ with a beautifully even and pure tone, and thoroughly energetically in ‘Oye’. The Adjudicator was complimentary of our Spanish delivery. An excellent achievement for a newly formed young teen group.”
We’re proud of all our talented young performers! Sincere thanks must also go to our hard-working staff, & the volunteer parents who make it all happen.
