'Crash!' Drum Kit Concert

July 1, 2015

Sunday 28th June 2015

On Sunday 28th June, Music For Canberra’s drum kit students presented our first ever drum kit concert, entitled ‘Crash!’

Drum kit tutor Michelle Forman (who also coordinates Rock Academy & the Jam It school holiday band program) created the concert because our drum kit students don’t typically get to perform in the way other instrumental students do – namely due to a drum kit not being the most transportable of instruments, and being one of the loudest, so drum kit students in the past have had to play more creative objects like tin cans and kitchen saucepans at our member concerts!

For many students this was their first time performing for an audience, and for most it certainly would have been the first time performing solo without a band around them. All students did a great job and it was evident how much percussive talent we have amongst our students.
