Joining an ensemble is a fantastic way for those who are already taking private lessons to meet like-minded players and hone their skills in a fun and friendly group environment. Our experienced conductors who lead ensembles will encourage you to expand and enrich your musical repertoire.

The Dixieland Jazz Band is an advanced jazz ensemble for players AMEB 5+. This ensemble consists of a traditional ‘hot jazz’ set up: Clarinet, Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Trombone, Drums, Bass (or tuba) and Banjo.
The style of music to be played by this ensemble is traditional Dixieland Jazz, which is excellent for learning how to read lead sheets, learning the role of your instrument in a traditional jazz band, and the ability to hone your improvisation skills.
