Music for children with disability: 7 - 15yrs
An introduction to the world of music in a fun, supportive group environment with an educational focus.
Fridays 5:00 - 5:45pm with Karen
Music Craft for children living with disability offers an opportunity for students from 7-15 years old to learn musical foundations in a group setting, as a fun introduction to learning music. Through singing, dance and playing percussion and other instruments, students develop rhythmic awareness in a fun and relaxed environment, which feeds into our Mixed Abilities Program Music Group or drumming classes for school-leavers.
Music Craft offers a supportive environment in which students can make new friends, and build their skills in speech and social interaction through learning in a structured group setting. Music For Canberra believes strongly in the importance of performance in improving the self-confidence and musical ability of students of all ages, and Music Craft students who would like to are certainly encouraged to participate in our member concert events (but are under no pressure to if they don’t wish to).
In groups of 5-10 children of similar age and experience – with less parental participation than Music Play as children become more independent – Music Craft is designed to give children a positive first experience with music in a fun, relaxed and stimulated environment.
Contact the office for more information and to ask about coming along for a FREE trial in any of our group classes.
