Music Craft for children 4-8yrs
A group program designed as an introduction to the world of music!
Fridays 4:15 - 5:00pm with Karen
Music Craft is a progression from our Music Play program for younger children, as young students grow and move through their introduction to musical education.
Through singing, movement and percussion, children are introduced to the fundamentals of music, pitch & rhythm in a supportive and fun group environment. They learn through a range of singing, rhyming, action and movement games, and the basics of reading musical notation, as well as gaining an introduction to a group tuition environment. These classes are a great foundation to go on to learn “grown up” instruments when students are a little older (such as Beginner Recorder or Ukulele groups for children 5+ years). Many of our instrumental tuition teachers who have students who started out in Music Play & Music Craft report accelerated progress on their chosen instrument.
In groups of 5-10 children of similar age and experience – with less parental participation than Music Play as children become more independent – Music Craft is designed to give children a positive first experience with music in a fun, relaxed and stimulated environment.
Music For Canberra believes strongly in the importance of performance in improving the self-confidence and musical ability of students of all ages, and Music Craft students who would like to are certainly encouraged to participate in our member concert events (but are under no pressure to if they don’t wish to).
We also run a Music Craft class for children living with disability. Contact the office for more information and to ask about coming along for a FREE trial in any of our group classes.
