Music Play: 18mths - 5yrs

A group program designed as a fun introduction to the world of music

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings with Barbara

Through singing, movement and percussion, children are introduced to the fundamentals of music, pitch & rhythm in a supportive and fun group environment.  They learn a range of singing, rhyming, action and movement games, and the basics of reading musical notation in the older age groups, as well as gaining an introduction to a group tuition environment. These classes are a great foundation to go on to learn “grown up” instruments when they’re a little older, and many of our instrumental tuition teachers who have students who started out in Music Play & Music Craft report accelerated progress on their chosen instrument.

In groups of 5-10 children of similar age and experience – with parents and carers very much encouraged to participate with their children – Music Play and Music Craft are designed to give children a positive first experience with music in a fun, relaxed and stimulated environment.

Music For Canberra believes strongly in the importance of performance in improving the self-confidence and musical ability of students of all ages, and Music Play & Music Craft students who would like to are certainly encouraged to participate in our member concert events (but are under no pressure to if they don’t wish to).
