Recorder is a great first instrument for young children to begin learning, as the instrument itself is not difficult to master, enabling children to focus their attentions on learning and developing their skills in sight-reading musical notation, and mastering rhythm, pitch and intonation in their recorder lessons.

Typically in Term 1 and Term 3 each year we accept brand new students into our Beginner Recorder group lessons; from here, students typically progress to increasing stages of Recorder Group, in consultation with the teacher. In the older groups, children continue to work on mastering their instrument, postural technique, learning more advanced musical notation & sight reading, and playing as part of a ensemble.
