Sempre Strings Adult Ensemble

A performance ensemble for adults strings players

Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:00pm with Chris

Joining an ensemble group is a fantastic way for those who are already taking private lessons to meet like-minded players and hone their skills in a fun and friendly group environment. Our experienced conductors who lead the ensemble groups will encourage you to expand and enrich your musical repertoire.

Sempre Strings adult ensemble is a string ensemble made up of adults who are confident with their violin, viola or cello or double bass playing (at least 2 years’ experience recommended), have learnt to read music, and play at approximately AMEB level 4 and upwards. Participants are typically also taking private lessons either at Music For Canberra or with a private teacher, but confident players of any background are welcome to join at any time throughout the year.

The group plays through a varied repertoire, including music from the baroque, classical and romantic periods to arrangements of movie themes, blue-grass fiddle tunes, folk songs and dances.

Music For Canberra believes strongly in the importance of performance in improving the self-confidence and musical ability of students of all ages, and Sempre Strings participants who would like to are certainly encouraged to participate in concerts and other community events (but are under no pressure if they don’t wish to).

“It’s great to play in a larger group and make new friends instead of ‘bashing’ away playing on your own!” – Sempre Strings member

New participants are encouraged to come along for a free trial to try it out – please contact the office to find out about coming along to the next rehearsal of Sempre Strings ensemble.
