Braddon ACT 2612
String Ensemble participants have the opportunity to consolidate and develop the technical skills they have learned in previous string ensemble groups and their additional individual tuition.
String Ensemble is conducted by professional musician and music teacher, Jenny Higgs, who challenges young players to explore works from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, and contemporary works written for string ensembles.
Music For Canberra believes strongly in the importance of performance in improving the self-confidence and musical ability of students of all ages, and in line with this, String Ensemble players participate in our String Stream concerts at the end of each term (see the Events page to view upcoming performances), and have the chance to perform at other community events throughout the year.
Approximate standard: AMEB 3-4 or equivalent (participants are expected to be taking additional individual instrumental tuition in addition to orchestra; this can be arranged with a Music For Canberra tutor if a student doesn’t already have a private teacher).
