Braddon ACT 2612
What do I need to bring to my Ukulele lessons?
Ahead of each term beginning, please ensure you are ready to start ukulele lessons with:
- your ukulele! (if you need advice on purchasing an instrument, please contact us or call one of Canberra’s local music stores such as Better Music)
- a plastic display folder to store the music you teacher will hand out in class
- a sharpened pencil (preferably with an eraser on top)
If you would like to find out more about ukulele lessons, please contact us at the office!
Ukulele lessons provide a great first instrument for young children to begin learning, as the instrument itself is not difficult to master, enabling children to focus their attentions on learning and developing their skills in sight-reading musical notation, and mastering rhythm, pitch and intonation in their ukulele lessons.
In term 1 and term 3 each year we accept brand new students into our Beginner Ukulele lessons; from here, students typically progress to learning in our Acoustic Guitar tuition groups, in consultation with the teacher. In the continuing groups, children work on mastering their instrument, postural technique, learning more advanced musical notation & sight reading, and playing as part of a ensemble.
After completing our Ukulele lessons and Acoustic Guitar group tuition pathway, older children may wish to take individual lessons on acoustic, electric or bass guitar. See our full program to view all the classes your child (and yourself!) might like to get involved with.
