Dylan first picked up the guitar aged 10 and was immediately hooked. After 17 years of playing, he is now in his second year of a Bachelor of Music at the Australian National University majoring in Jazz Performance and splits his time between studying, teaching, playing in local bands, community musicals and in wedding bands.
Dylan can be seen around Canberra playing anything from jazz to indie rock, from to funk to bluegrass. He has performed with acclaimed Australian jazz musicians John Mackay and Miroslav Bukovsky as well as American cello virtuoso David Eggar. He has played in many musical productions including Canberra Philharmonic Society’s stagings of Rock of Ages and Jesus Christ Superstar and has performed at the Merimbula Jazz Festival, the Moruya Jazz Festival and the National Folk Festival.
Dylan has been awarded both the Erika Haas Prize, given to those that achieve the highest aggregate grade across a year if study, and the Friends of the School of Music Ensemble Prize during his studies at the ANU School of Music. Dylan has been teaching guitar for the last 10 years, and specialises in advanced improvisation, advanced picking techniques, and theory, as well as being accustomed to teaching beginners of all ages.
