Music Craft for Young Adults with Disability
If you have self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding, we encourage you to have a conversation with your NDIS support coordinator. They can guide you on how to use your funding to pursue your goals in music and community participation.
Music for Canberra offers programs that support these objectives and can provide the information you need to make informed decisions. If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed, please remember that you can only access services through NDIS-registered providers. We suggest speaking with your provider about the possibility of joining Music for Canberra programs and exploring options to support your participation.
At Music for Canberra, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through music and community engagement. We strive to make our programs accessible to all, and NDIS funding may be a valuable resource to help you or your loved ones become actively involved in our inclusive music activities.
Group music sessions for older teenagers and young adults with disability
Music Craft is an on-going weekly group session designed for young adults and older teenagers with disability to explore music. Engaging with various genres and instruments from different cultures, participants are supported to sing, dance, play instruments, and make music together.
Participants of Music Craft have the opportunity to creatively express themselves, develop coordination, increase focus, improve social interactions and boost confidence. It is a fun, inclusive and dynamic space to look forward to every week.
** Participants attend these group sessions with their support workers, who are expected to play an active role in the class.
*** Music Craft classes take place during the ACT school term and will align as much as possible with the school term schedule. Weekly rehearsal times will not change.
