Drum Circle for Joy

For an energising exploration of rhythm and self, come to Music for Canberra’s Drum Circle for Joy classes. These group classes will help you reduce anxiety and stress, feel more grounded, and mindfully reconnect with yourself and others.

No prior drumming experience is necessary. You’ll receive instruction in the fundamentals of Djembe drumming and discover your own unique groove. The Djembe, a renowned West African drum, offers easy learning and excellent sound quality, with instruments provided for use during class.

Each session begins with a brief grounding meditation, before moving into drum warm-ups, and progressing into group improvisation that builds upon your foundational skills. Gain confidence, refine technique, and master rhythm while drumming in sync with a joyful community.

Jessica Read, our Drum Circle for Joy leader, is a trained drum circle facilitator and meditation teacher and has a passion for leading groups and creating community.

* Drum Circle for Joy is run during the ACT school term and will align as much as possible with the school term schedule. Weekly lesson times will not change.
