In January 2015, two of Canberra’s longest-established key arts organisations, Music for Everyone and Canberra Youth Music, merged to form Music for Canberra.

A long musical history…

Bringing together 30 and 50 years of ACT musical history respectively, the merged organisation offers Canberra’s largest program of instrumental, ensemble & orchestral tuition, musical experiences and workshops, and performance opportunities. As a non-profit organisation with a community focus, Music for Canberra encourages people of any age (starting as early as 18 months old in our ‘Music Play’ groups), any ability (including ‘Mixed Ability’ music & drumming groups for people living with a disability) and any background to take up an instrument or singing, and experience the benefits music can offer. Programs to suit everyone…

Music for Canberra offers a variety of different programs for people of all abilities. We offer group instrumental tuition, as well as the opportunity to take part in an ensemble. We have choirs for children as well as an orchestra program that includes the Canberra Youth Orchestra. We also offer mixed ability classes to those living with a disability.

First and foremost Music for Canberra prioritises music lessons for everyone that inspire and create fun and engaging learning opportunities. Music for Canberra offers high quality music tuition for all and curates accessible and creative ways to make music at our home – the Ainslie Arts centre.
